The history of the Anders Group

We enlarge: New construction of a Van ProCenter in Porta Westfalica and extension to the commercial vehicle workshop in Oyten.

Everything under one roof: The Anders Group is formed in August.

2x more Anders - Anders Automobile expands with the new Skoda building and the Verden branch moves to Bertha-Benz-Straße in August.

The shareholder Andreas-Christian Sieg retires and Hauke Anders takes over the sole shareholding and management of Autohaus Sieg GmbH.

Schulz becomes Anders - Takeover of Schulz AG in Achim, Oyten and Verden.

Foundation of Anders Kraftfahrzeuge GmbH.

Opening of the in-house vehicle preparation "Car Clean Profi" on Osloer Straße in Vechta.

A new dimension - Takeover of the majority holding Autohaus Sieg GmbH and foundation of the in-house vehicle rental company "Just Rent".

Opening of the commercial vehicle competence centre on Karl-Friedrich-Benz-Strasse in Vechta.

Service for the big ones - Opening of a cross-brand commercial vehicle workshop on the Hansalinie in Holdorf.

More space - Anders Automobile GmbH moves into the chic new building on Falkenrotter Straße.

Off to the south - takeover of the former Fenner company in Damme.

The third district - merger with the Nienburg car dealership in Nienburg.

The sibling is here - foundation of Anders Automobile GmbH.

Expansion into the bacon belt - takeover of the former Wessel company in Syke.

The Anders family decides on a thorough solution and immediately starts planning the new building in Vechta and only one year later also in Diepholz. The ground-breaking ceremony in Vechta took place in January 1983; on 24 November the new Anders car dealership in Vechta was inaugurated - in front of a spectacular backdrop of almost 760 enthusiastic guests and with the programmatic speech of the renowned business journalist Paul C. Martin, which ended with the wish formula: "May this star never sink over Vechta".

The first computer virus, written by a certain Rich Skrenta, spreads. In the summer, Steven Spielberg's "Poltergeist" starts worldwide. Helmut Kohl (CDU) is elected new head of government after a constructive vote of no confidence against Chancellor Helmut Schmidt (SPD). And building contractor Richard Anders founds Autohaus Anders GmbH on 28 June. Ten years earlier, Richard Anders had already started his Mercedes involvement with a Mercedes authorised workshop of Daimler-Benz AG in Lütjenburg, Holstein, which he had built and leased out.

From April 1982 this was then operated on its own. During the opening ceremonies Anders hears for the first time that Mercedes-Benz intends to terminate the Vechta and Diepholz branches. A short time later it was officially confirmed. The building contractor sensed the opportunity of his life, applied in Stuttgart and was able to convince even the last doubters with his hands-on manner - and the necessary equity capital. The investment seems as smart as it is forward-looking.

Vechta and its region are regarded as the home of proven Mercedes clientele, the brand floats as a "good star on all roads" and son Hauke has just completed his apprenticeship as a motor vehicle fitter at the Mercedes branch in Kiel, taking a first and - as will become apparent shortly afterwards - a groundbreaking step in the automotive direction. In Vechta, the company, which is outdated and constricted in the city centre, is to be modernised in line with the times.
